Still Waiting

It’s been probably a week since I wrote the blog post I just published (oops.) My desk and treadmill are here. The shelves arrived and got put up and put in use, but the desk and the treadmill are still in their boxes.

Look, it’s not because I don’t want to set them up! I most certainly do. It’s just that…okay, remember those little plastic games with a picture on tiles, and you had to move the tiles so the picture made sense, but you had to plan ahead and not line up like, the first three and then be stuck because you couldn’t figure out how to keep going without messing up the ones you got?

Yeah, maybe you were better at those things than I was. I never solved one. Not once.

On the back porch there’s the recycling thing that needs to be in the back hall, the roomie’s old dresser that she hated, a shelf that didn’t fit the space I had it in, and a lot of stuff that’s just been shoved out of the house for the moment. And it is, of course, raining a lot. Hopefully that stuff isn’t getting ruined but anyway…

I cleared off and moved the bookshelf outside my room that I have barely touched in the seven years we’ve lived here. Some of that (all the Harry Potter books) went to Goodwill, but the rest came into my room. Roomie emptied out her closet to work on it, and all that stuff came into my room because there was nowhere else for it to go. Same with some of the kid’s stuff. In short, the only way to get through my room–and indeed, a lot of the house–is one narrow path.

We continue to work on it. Trips to Goodwill have occurred, and will again. When we’re done, it’s gonna be awesome.

When we’re done. That day is going to come!

One of these days.
