Swimming is very good for exhausting children.ย Unfortunately it’s awfully good for wearing out adults, too.ย I have free time, the kid is quiet and happy and probably about to fall asleep at her desk–and I got nothing. Except that I’m about to fall asleep at my desk.ย Why?ย Because what I’m doing is boring.ย

Avoiding writing (again), I wandered Orson Scott Card’s Uncle Orson’s Writing Class.ย And just for the hell of it, clicked on the character naming article. First rule: No two characters in the same story can have their key name (i.e., the one most commonly referred to) start with the same letter or the same sound).
Yay!!!ย This weekend I finished and sent Chapter Seventeen, finished Chapter Eighteen, and possibly finished Chapter Nineteen.ย Hurray!! It helps that the writing is much better in the second half of the book, I can use more of what was already there…which makes me worry for the length of the book.ย If I’m not cutting
