List of DOOM, Day oops

I was really tired yesterday, okay? Somehow I’d forgotten that you can’t start getting up 1-2 hours earlier without going to bed earlier, if you don’t want to really feel it, anyway.

TBH, today I didn’t get much done either. I did make an AWESOME coconut quinoa curry in the crockpot that I didn’t select for its vegan-ness but hey, it’s vegan. And delicious. And now I’ve got a ton of it and it’s ALL MINE.

Two 7-cup containers, and half a 4-cup container, and I already ate some…

Termite guy came and said he didn’t see anything, but they’d be happy to treat anyway and guarantee it for five years. I’m a big fan of peace of mind, so I’ll probably do it.

The curry is actually the main reason I got nothing done this morning, oddly enough. Not because it took a long time to put together–it’s one of those lovely dump-and-go (almost–also gotta wash and chop) recipes. No, what happened was I’d had the brilliant idea to put the crockpot on the porch today, so it wouldn’t heat up my house. No, they don’t heat up that much, but yunno, it’s nearing a hundred here.

So I took it out on the porch and set it on the freezer and plugged it in, and it didn’t come on. Then I saw the light on the freezer wasn’t on. That’s a much bigger deal than the crockpot, let me tell you!

I took the crockpot back inside, messed with the freezer and the outlet for a bit, shoved the freezer across the porch to the other outlet, played with that a while, raged a bit, started dragging frozen stuff in to pack into the small (refrigerator) freezer…

I was really proud of myself, getting all that stuff crammed into the small freezer. I am, as my household admits, a master at freezer Tetris. Unfortunately I discovered an hour ago that I had forgotten two bags on the porch, so when I took the dumpster to the street a bit ago, I had to toss in about $40 of food.

Oh, and the freezer is working now. My best guess is that I tripped the outlet (it’s one of those overload shutoff ones) plugging the crockpot in, and then just couldn’t see that the light was on once I moved the freezer to the other outlet. Which should teach me–when testing for electricity in bright light, don’t use something that doesn’t have a bright light!

I dislike adventures that don’t end with me ahead or at least breaking even. *grumble*
