Tell Me, Why Don't You?

On second thought, don’t.

So I’ve been busting ass how long, trying to get the recalcitrant, contrary Flame stuffed into her story by the deadline? The deadline being March. Note the lack of a day in that sentence.

Last night I emailed my friend, who just happens to be the editor. I told her I had twelve updates, but the story wasn’t done yet. How soon–seeing that March is nearly over–did she need my chapters? Because if I had until the end of March, I meant to keep writing to the end (it’s very close) then give myself a couple days away, and then edit like mad. Where if she needed it yesterday, I’d stop writing and start editing now.

She responded that as the magazine isn’t launching until October, and one of the prime movers is, well, moving in the near future, the deadline has been pushed back. Go me for writing, and do what I need to do as far as getting it done.

Sheesh. But I guess it’s just as well. I have long since proven my ability to take as long as you give me to do anything (and frequently a little longer.)

Onward it is!
