Day Thirteen

Today is Day Thirteen of our school year, and I am still getting kids who haven’t been in school yet this year. (As well as the kids whose parents have decided already that they need a different school. But that’s another blog.)

I remember the first day of school as a big deal. How did it slip past these parents? How did they just not notice all the other kids were suddenly gone during the day? Were they not shopping at all in the last two months, to have missed all the back to school sales? Didn’t they want to get the kids out of their hair?

Do they not care that their kids are starting out two weeks behind the rest? How can they not care?
