Tucson Originals–Sort Of

Today was the catch-all, and I didn’t do too bad.  Fourth Avenue took a small and enjoyable bite of both our wallets–we found Duck Tape (no, I won’t explain), some really awesome postcards, buttons and magnets, (Don’t Believe In Gay Marriage?  Don’t Marry One!), I bought a beautiful ankle bracelet for $5 (I had decided I wasn’t worrying about the car for a few days, but I still didn’t spend much) and walked up and down the street till Hope was complaining of being tired.

Bly is a smart one, she knew eating on Fourth Avenue was not going to be cheap.  So we left to get lunch, and she requested “someplace simple” where she could get a burger and a beer.  Unfortunately, since we’re talking me, I had no idea what restaurants served beer.  I’ve never cared.

Eventually we found ourselves at Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler, and that worked out well.  Bly had a steak sandwich and her beer, I had fajitas, Hope had a root beer.  That was all she wanted, since when we got back in the car after our walk, she ate the breakfast I’d bought her hours earlier.  Bly says she’s a “pre-eater.”  I say fine, since Jack in the Box food is cheaper than Chuy’s.

We wanted dessert and Chuy’s didn’t have much of a selection, so we left to go find something.  On the way we stopped at R-Galaxy, the anime place in town and a wonderful, wonderful place to kill a few hours/days/paychecks…

Bly got some cool stuff and didn’t perpetrate homicide on the know-it-all (but wrong) sales girl.  I finally broke down and got a Weiss wall scroll.  yum…

From R-Galaxy I went north, with the plan of Coco’s Bakery and Restaurant for dessert.  Only it wasn’t there anymore.  I kept going north, and ended up at Foothills Mall.  (that’s way north!)  We explored the two-story (I was told it was three!) Barnes and Noble and had some sinfully incredible cheesecake and coffee, and dragged Hope out to go home.  (dragged out of bookstores–she’s so mine.)

Time was ticking down, and I still hadn’t shown Bly Verbrechen and Strafe, the two OVA episodes of Weiss that are drawn so much better than the original.  So I made Hope get in the tub for her Sunday night bath, and Bly and I enjoyed.

When it was over we loaded up again and drove Bly to her hotel to pack and turn in early, she had to leave by five a.m. to make her flight.  Hope and I came home and cried.
