Afternoon

Reporting in seems to be helping me keep on track.  So I’ll continue to do it.

I got the entire MS broken into scenes.  I’m printing it out with page breaks.  I also made a checklist sheet.  And now I’m taking  both stacks to McDonald’s, where I can work in peace while Hope goes and bounces off of things and people.

McDonalds, if you’ve never tried it, is a great place to work when you need to get away from the internet, from email, from dogs and birds and cats and need to make the kid happy.  Trust me on this.

I put in all the changes I made yesterday, so I wouldn’t be trying to reconcile two MSs before I put the changes in the computer.  Somehow it’s grown to over 72,000 words.  This is good news, as absolutely no one that I’ve found will take a novel shorter than 75,000.  I have no worries at all that I’ll be able to get the extra thousands in.  Description alone (my first drafts have virtually none) should add a couple hundred well-placed bits.

And we’re off!
