I Don’t See the Problem

A fight over books depicting sex and homosexuality has riled up a small Wisconsin city, cost some library board members their positions and prompted a call for a public book burning.

I really don’t see the problem. The solution is so simple. If you’re so concerned about what your child is reading (good on you!) assess the books before you allow them to be checked out. You can look them up online before going to the library, skim them once you’re there, ask a librarian…it’s so easy!

And then you wouldn’t be inflicting your beliefs on the rest of us! We could all live in peace with no need for book-burnings! Now, doesn’t that sound nice?

Of course, if the real problem is that you want to police what my child reads–well, now we have a problem.
