Frustrating

Seriously. I’m not an idiot. And I’ve been around the internet a bit. So how the :bleeeeep: do I keep getting screwed up?

I downloaded (and uploaded, and activated) a plugin to watch my stats. The thing said I needed an API key to make it work. I put in the password emailed to me when I got the blog.

It said that wasn’t an API key. Oddly enough, when I set up the feed so that entries posted here appear on the old blog as well–it asked for at API key, balked twice when I used that password, then ACCEPTED IT.

This time, though, no dice. Try after try and it didn’t work. I finally went looking for the info. “Upper right corner when you’re on My Profile,” they said.

Nope.  Nothing there.

“Login to WordPress.com,” the info said, “and they will send you an API key.”

I tried. It wouldn’t accept me. In desperation, I registered with a different username. I’d just…input the API key and that was all I needed, right?

Except that now for some reason, when I go to the bookmark I created to go to my blog’s dashboard, my browser takes me to WordPress.com’s website. I have to go to my blog and click on “Site Admin” to get to my dashboard.

No, it’s not a big deal. Even when I have to log out of MyStats and log in to my blog and vice versa, it’s simply not that big a deal.  Even though I can’t edit my username on either account, can’t combine them, and can’t seem to assign all rights so I could just use one name for everything.  Not that big a deal.

But it is a pain in the ass. And I really don’t need any more of those.

Does anyone?
