One of my forum-friends tonight was talking about how she didn’t know her character very well, and various methods were suggested. Some people have books of character traits. Some suggested Tarot cards, and some have lists and d100 (hundred-sided dice, did you never RPG? Or, two 10-sided, more likely.) I like to dip into Russell Grant’s astrology.
Taro is an Aries, and anyone who knows astrology will see it in a second. So is Eve, and Selene. Rafe is a Libra. Joss, apparently, is a Gemini. Sees everything, thinks at the speed of light, and gets bored even faster. Yeah, writing him is going to be a major pain in the behind.
But I’m looking forward to it. Joss is gonna make me stretch. Bright, changeable lead, a needs-to-be-intricate plot, and Paige AND Zac making it three major characters out in front all the time…
Come on, November! (except not really ’cause I’m not ready yet and I had at least two other projects I wanted to get done before then. Eeep!)
My original smut story seems perfect for an anthology with a deadline of Sept. 30. Except it has to grow by 2,000 words before I can submit it. So why did I spend all evening working out characters for NaNo?
That’s right. Because I’m frequently an idiot.
