Writing on the Fly

Almost didn’t make it! Saturday is my goal, for uploading a new chapter of my fanfic. But I got it done, the second epic is on chapter 10, as of eight in the darn evening. Go me!

Sometimes it’s easy. Once I had the chapter done two weeks in advance, and it was all I could do to resist posting it early. (helped that it would have been out of order if I did.) But not this time. I had other writing wanting written, pestering me all week. Even writing it, didn’t set me free to work on the Shades chapter. I just came up with more.

It’s odd how that happens sometimes. It’s a great chapter. (If you like that sort of thing.) Sex, comedy, duty and honor and jealousy and drama and I wrapped up a plot thread that the show had left dangling with some long-overdue justice, and ended with a lovely cliffhanger that I expect will have my faithful readers (ooh, I have them, I do!) wanting to throw things at me.

Like I said, it’s a great chapter. But I just couldn’t seem to write it. Even after my finger started cooperating. (note I didn’t say it quit hurting. It still does. But the dedicated press forward despite the agony! 😉 And that’s what I ended up doing. Pressing forward. I sat in this chair and I refused to go do anything else until I had that damn chapter done. (yes, child care and letting the dog out were exceptions. Do I have to explain that?)

First rule of writing: Ass in chair.
