Just sick, and tired. And I don’t mean fed up. Edit/re-write of Ben continues. Still looking for the place where it starts moving faster, but I’m happy with what I’ve done so far. I think this re-write is gonna kick it up a notch or six. This pleases me.
About what? Oh, I’m sure I could have come up with something. How little time I have to write, maybe, or the fact that every time I start to edit, my brain tries to run off. But the time for whining, if ever there were such a time, is over. This edit is going down.

Spent all day thinking how much better I could make that ship-fight scene, some fifteen years and a whole lot of writing experience after the first time I wrote it. How much more emotion I could wring from Ben’s horror at Eve’s ruthlessness in a dark corridor… Guess it’s back to re-writing for a bit.
I made progress! Eleven pages edited tonight, before my brain wandered off into No-Minds-Land. Of course, seven of those pages I just crossed off. Seven whole pages, barely two facts worth putting in somewhere else. And those seven pages survived three re-writes. Ah well. Live and learn. I write much better now. The edit means
I edited eleven pages of Ben today. That may not seem like much after all this time, but it is real, forward progress at last. Finally, finally, Ben’s story is starting to come together. And I don’t think I’ll have to change him too terribly much to make it all work. (So relax, Ben fans.)
