Okay, did I really just spend better than two hours wandering around baby name sites to rename a couple characters? I think I did. Damn, it’s 10:30 and I haven’t written a word, outside of that catch-up blog for yesterday, that I just did. Bed is calling. Sigh. But I think I got the names
It starts so simply, so deceptively small…an offhand comment, a silly little, “you could do a scene on…” and I’m off. It’s six pages, it’s totally useless to my book, it can’t stand alone, and it took my entire last day of vacation to write. And it’s funny as hell, kept me and BJ giggling
So what else is new. I think I’m about to break the obsession though. I’m to the point where every tiny tweak takes at least five minutes of thinking, to be absolutely positively certain the change will IMPROVE the story–not just add to it, or God forbid, take away.
