Panlexicon
Did you ever have one of those times when you know there's a word, you know it's the right word, but you cannot for the life of you remember that word?
One of my most prized possessions when I was younger was a well-thumbed copy of Roget's Thesaurus. I loved that book, and I spent a lot of time in it. But sometimes it didn't help. Sometimes I wanted a word that meant something very similar to the word I was looking at, but wasn't close enough to be listed as a synonym.
Sometimes I spent a lot of time chasing words through the thesaurus.
Nowadays I turn to Panlexicon. It doesn't pull up just synonyms--it uses some fancy algorithm thingy to pull up related words. And if you click on another not-quite-right word, it searches using both of your suggestions, and probably gets closer to the word you really want.
Man, I love Panlexicon.
