Scene Practice

Dust motes dance in stripes; yellow light and grey shadow fall in strips across loose golden hay.  Charcoal wool with red plaid, the blanket lies spread in a valley between little hills of hay, hidden from everything but the sun and shadow.

Under a flipped-up corner of the blanket, an overturned soda bottle glugs once.  In silence the last spurt of Mountain Dew falls on the blanket, increasing the stain already there.
